FACTS OF INTEREST

Pigs were domesticated, or tamed, about 8,000 years ago. All pigs are descended from the wild boar of Eurasia.
Though pigs have poor eyesight, their sense of smell is excellent. They are also very smart, and can be taught many tricks.
A sow gives birth to as many as fifteen piglets, each weighing about three pounds. They drink their mother's milk for six or seven weeks.
Pigs grow faster than any other farm animal. In just six months they may weigh in at 200 lbs!
